40 YEARS AGO A REVOLUTION - TODAY, A SUCCESS STORY. Creating a Chef's Knife with a seamless synthetic handle was a revolution in 1976. Premium materials are used in the manufacturing of this all-round knife. The steel in the FRIODUR blade is made from a stainless special formula steel with an ice-hardened finish for extreme robustness as well as flexibility. The material is also rust-free. The knife is made from a single piece of steel to make it highly stable and durable for many years of use, aided by a seamless plastic, ergonomically designed handle. The knife then sits nicely in the hand to enable precision cutting even for the most difficult of tasks.

The Santoku knife is a Japanese all-round knife. It combines traditional Japanese characteristics for cutting fish and vegetables with the modern, western aspects of a carving knife. The knife is therefore ideal for working with almost any food and, with an 18 cm blade, is especially good for larger ingredients. If you want to cook Japanese food, the knife is perfect for preparing the necessary ingredients. European recipes with fish, meat and vegetables can also be effortlessly prepared using this knife. With this Santoku knife from ZWILLING, you'll be able to experience Asian cuisine in a special way.

Past Prepared Us For the Future

Past Prepared Us For the Future

In 1731 Peter Henckels registered the ZWILLING trademark with the Cutler’s Guild of Solingen, Germany. A brilliant idea indeed because that makes ZWILLING one of the oldest brands in the world & Germans are well known for their love of traditions. We have a 288-year-old brand history that we are eager to share with everyone & we are a modern, forward-thinking company that is all about future cooking trends & technologies.

Every great recipe starts with great ingredients. When it comes to our high-quality knives and cookware it is our ZWILLING special formula steel. It’s called “ZWILLING Sonderschmelze” and features an impressively well-balanced combination of chrome and carbon, which is the secret to producing a steel of supreme quality. Our master bladesmiths train for 8 years before they get their hands on our knives.

Forging is at the heart of the production of knives. The knife is given its shape by the use of temperature and force under extreme conditions. SIGMAFORGE knives are precision-forged from a single piece of steel. The result is a perfect geometry and we always strive for perfection when it comes to our knives. When you hold a ZWILLING product, you can be sure you are holding a piece of history.

Cool It Down

Cool It Down

We have optimized the hardening process to obtain the optimum degree of hardness – because the right hardness is simply everything. If the steel is too soft, the knife will become blunt. If it too hard, it will break. Our special ice-hardening process guarantees flexible FRIODUR blades with extremely good cutting edge retention and exceptional corrosion resistance.
